Sutter Health, a Forbes Best Employer and Top Hospital, is a leader in GME and trauma/critical care and seeks physician educators to join the leadership at one of the newest Pulmonary Critical Care Medicine Fellowship training programs in Northern California! We are seeking a full-time, board certified, experienced Pulmonary Critical Care physician (MD or DO) to contribute to the development of and lead our fully sponsored Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program at Sutter Roseville Medical Center in collaboration with Pulmonary Medicine Associates in Roseville, CA (Sacramento Metro Area). The new Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program will accept 2 fellows in the PGY1 Year starting July 2026. Candidates currently serving as core faculty in a pulmonary and critical care medicine fellowship or related program are highly encouraged to apply. This is a terrific opportunity for an ambitious current APD or PD to construct a brand-new program at the region’s leading teaching hospital.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship Program Director has the responsibility, authority, and accountability for administration and operations; teaching and scholarly activity; fellow recruitment and selection, evaluation, and promotion of fellows, and disciplinary action; supervision of fellows; and fellow education in the context of patient care. The Program Director is responsible for the standards, quality, reputation, and ongoing improvement of the fully sponsored Fellowship Program. The new Fellowship program at Sutter Roseville Medical Center will continue building and training full spectrum pulmonary critical care physicians in the highly competitive Northern California region, with the goal of expanding access to quality care in rural areas. The program will accept 2 fellows in the PGY1 Year starting July 2026.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Candidates must have an MD, DO, or equivalent with residency training in Internal Medicine; Pulmonology & Critical Care Board certified fellowship training.
- Advanced experience in fellowship program teaching and/or administration preferred.
- Must have at least (3) years post-fellowship participation as an active faculty member in an ACGME-accredited Pulmonology & Critical Care fellowship program or Internal Medicine residency program. The experience can be as an associate program director, core faculty member, faculty member, or subspecialty education coordinator for an ACGME-accredited program. Chief residency experience in a fourth-year position with junior faculty member responsibilities does count.
- Eligibility for a California medical license.
